What this lesson shows
6 counters in 3 equal groups: one group is 1/3 of the set, 2 counters. Two groups are 2/3 of the set, 4 counters.
The worked example
The lesson works this one step by step: 2/3 of 6. Then your kid tries one like it on paper.
The steps
- The bottom: how many equal groups
- One group is one part
- The top: how many groups to take
Helping at home
Draw the counters, then loop them into as many equal groups as the bottom number. One group is one part of the set. Your kid rings as many groups as the top number and counts the counters in them.
If your kid gets stuck
Make as many equal groups as the bottom.
Watch it with Lux
With Lux, this lesson is a narrated video and a printed page your kid works on. Then Lux helps with the same math on their own worksheet, one question at a time.
