Elementary math · Schoolwork, homeschool, and practice
A math tutor that knows your kid, all year long.
Lux sees your kid’s page, asks instead of telling, and remembers what was hard. It follows your state’s school year with lessons and practice sheets, at school or at home. You see every session, the calendar, and what to practice next.
A session from start to finish, then the report, the calendar, and your controls.

Assessment and learning calendar
Know which math skills your kid needs help with.
The assessment shows what your kid can do independently and where they need practice. The calendar lets you review the work they do with Lux.
01 / Understand
See what your kid can do on their own.
Lux asks your kid to work through math problems. You get a report showing the skills they know and the ones they need help with.

How it works
Their worksheet. Their pencil. Help with the next step.
A computer with a microphone and speakers, and the phone you already have. Nothing to install, nothing to buy.
01
Snap the page
Homework, a test to review, or a practice sheet. Pick Photos, scan the code on the computer, and hold your phone over each page.
02
Talk it through
Your kid talks with Lux and writes with their own pencil. Lux asks a question, offers a hint, and checks each step.
03
Read the report
After the session, you get a detailed report: what they solved alone, where they needed help, and what to practice next.
Want Lux to watch every step?
Put your phone on a stand above the page, and Lux follows the work as your kid writes. A USB document camera works too.
For parents
Know what they worked on. Know what comes next.
A calendar for the everyday work. Detailed reports for the moments that matter. A clear view of where help is needed.
A detailed report after every session
See what your kid worked on, what they solved independently, where they needed help, and what to practice next. Review the full conversation in your account.
Their learning, day by day
Open the calendar to see sessions, lessons, and practice sheets together. Pick a day to revisit the work and its detailed report.
You set it up and give consent
A parent manages the account and agrees before sessions begin. The camera points at the worksheet.
These lessons are for you, too. See how the math is taught, so you can follow the methods your kid is learning. We recommend watching together when you want to understand more. Your kid can revisit any explanation when they need it.
Give your kid more practice with the math they find tricky.
Print a practice sheet and let your kid work with pencil and paper. If they get stuck, Lux can look at the page and guide them through the next step.
Open either example to explore both pages and print.
Parents on Lux
What parents are saying.
Thoughtful guidance
“She got stuck on a subtraction problem. Lux asked a smaller question, and she worked out the next step herself. That’s exactly the kind of help I wanted.”
Elena R.
Parent of a 4th grader
Independent thinking
“He talks through his homework with Lux while I help his sister. He’s still working on his own paper, and I can check the report when we’re done.”
Marcus T.
Parent of a 3rd grader
Clear next steps
“I used to get “fine” when I asked how math went. Now I can see where she needed a hint and what to practice next. I know where to help.”
Priya S.
Parent of a 5th grader
The way Lux teaches
See how Lux helps when your kid gets stuck.
When your kid gets stuck, Lux makes up a simpler example and asks one question at a time. Watch it help a kid turn a remainder into a fraction.
Included for each kid
20 hours
of personal math tutoring, every month.
$2.95per hour
A month of Lux. Less than 2 private tutoring hours.
Wyzant’s published tutoring average: $35–$60 an hour.
$291 less a month than Mathnasium Andover’s $350 membership.
“I come from a family of teachers. When my daughter started bringing home 4th-grade math, I wanted that kind of teacher at her desk. So I built Lux the way my mom teaches: one question at a time, checking every step. And after each session, I get a detailed report that tells me how it really went.”

Questions parents ask
Will it do the homework for my kid?
No. It works through each problem with them: a question, a small hint, a check. Your kid says the answer first. Then Lux tells them if it is right, or which step to look at again.
What do we need at home?
A computer with a microphone and speakers, plus a phone held above the worksheet. Scan a code to connect the phone camera. Lux runs in your browser, with nothing to install. A USB document camera also works.
Which grades and subjects?
Lux is for elementary school math. Bring homework, a test to review, or a worksheet to practice. The example on this page shows long division.
Does Lux follow my state's standards?
Yes, in all 50 states and DC. Pick your state when you add your kid, and Lux follows its own math standards, kindergarten to 5th grade: TEKS in Texas, B.E.S.T. in Florida, and Common Core where your state uses it.
Does Lux work for homeschooling?
Yes, for math. Mark your kid as homeschooled, pick topics from their grade or follow the year plan, and work printed practice sheets with Lux. The Record tab keeps a dated log of days, hours, standards, and worked sheets, with quarterly reports to print.
Is it safe for my child?
A parent sets it up and gives consent before any session. The camera points at the paper, not at your kid. You manage your child’s account and can review their sessions. Our privacy and COPPA policies explain how we handle your child’s information.
What if my kid gets stuck or frustrated?
Lux slows down and goes one step at a time, with one short instruction and one question. If a step still does not click, it shows the idea on a smaller example it makes up, never on the homework itself.
How will I know how it went?
After every session, Lux emails you a detailed session report: what your kid worked on, what they solved independently, where they needed help, and what to practice. Read the whole conversation in your account. Their calendar brings sessions, lessons, and practice sheets into one place.
How is this different from a chatbot or an answer app?
Your kid does not type anything. Lux sees the page, speaks first, listens, and follows along as they write. Answer apps show the solution. Lux helps your kid find it.
Who is my kid talking to?
Lux is an intelligent, revolutionary math tutor. Your kid talks with Lux out loud while it follows their worksheet through a camera. It asks questions, offers hints, and checks each step. It can make mistakes, so parents can review the conversation and stay involved.
Can I sign up on my phone?
Yes. You can set up your family and choose a plan on your phone. For teaching sessions, use a computer for the conversation and a phone or document camera above the worksheet.
Will Lux check my kid’s math level?
Lux works through math with your kid to find strengths and skills that need practice. You get a report of what they can do independently and where they need help. Currently available for Florida Grade 4 where assessment topics are supported. Assessment time uses the included tutoring hours.
What does it cost?
$59 a month per kid includes 20 hours of personal math tutoring and detailed session reports. Cancel your monthly plan anytime.
