What this lesson shows
Counters join a row one at a time. Each new number we say means one more counter than the number before.
The worked example
The lesson works this one step by step: 7 apples. Then your kid tries one like it on paper.
The steps
- Add one at a time
- Say the next number
- Each number is one more
- One more than before
Helping at home
Read each box aloud. Your kid counts the things, draws one more, and says the next number without counting again from 1. Ask: "Is it one more than before?"
If your kid gets stuck
One more is the next number.
Watch it with Lux
With Lux, this lesson is a narrated video and a printed page your kid works on. Then Lux helps with the same math on their own worksheet, one question at a time.
