What this lesson shows
60 minutes make an hour, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 12 months a year. Then pick the unit that fits: brushing teeth takes minutes, a trip takes days.
The worked example
The lesson works this one step by step: brushing your teeth (question 1). Then your kid tries one like it on paper.
The steps
- 60 seconds = 1 minute
- 60 minutes = 1 hour
- 24 hours = 1 day
- 7 days = 1 week
- 12 months = 1 year
Helping at home
Read each question aloud. Before picking a unit, ask: is it over in a blink, in a few minutes, by tonight, or does it take many days? Check the answer by saying it: "20 hours for lunch" sounds silly.
If your kid gets stuck
Say it with the unit. Does it sound right?
Watch it with Lux
With Lux, this lesson is a narrated video and a printed page your kid works on. Then Lux helps with the same math on their own worksheet, one question at a time.
