What this lesson shows
A picture graph of the fruit a class picked: 8 apples, 3 bananas, 5 grapes. Most kids picked apples, so a new kid will most likely pick apples too.
The worked example
The lesson works this one step by step: apples 8, bananas 3, grapes 5. Then your kid tries one like it on paper.
The steps
- A picture graph, a table, or a bar graph
- The longest row or tallest bar is the most
- The most picked is the most likely next
Helping at home
Read each box aloud. Your kid draws a picture graph, one face for each kid, and a table of the counts. Ask which answer most kids picked, and what a new kid would most likely pick. Try it with a family vote on dinner.
If your kid gets stuck
The longest row is the most picked.
Watch it with Lux
With Lux, this lesson is a narrated video and a printed page your kid works on. Then Lux helps with the same math on their own worksheet, one question at a time.
